The 'Lal Quila' or the 'Red Fort' was built by Shah Jahan in 1639. It was the residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty for around 200 years. Ustad Ahmad Lahauri was the architect of this fort. 'Diwan-i-Am' is one of the famous structures of the complex. This palace used to hold darbars and other state functions by the Mughal Emporer. Another attraction of the fort is the Light & Sound Show. This one hour show takes place inside the fort every day except Monday. The show is in English and Hindi both. The Hindi show is from 7:30 to 8:30 pm & the English show is from 9 pm to 10 pm. It costs Rs 60 for adults and Rs 20 for children. One can reach by travelling from the yellow metro line or by a Meru cab at the best price.
Jantar Mantar was built by Maharaja Jai Singh in year 1724. The place consists of 13 architectural astronomy instruments which can help to predict the movement and timings of the moon, sun and other planets. Its open from 6 am to 6 pm and usually takes two hours to tour the place. The entry fee is Rs 15 & if you have a video camera, then the charges are Rs 25 per camera.
A trip to Delhi is incomplete without a visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan. It has 340 rooms in its main building and covers 5 acres out of 330 acres. You can plan a visit here on Saturday and Sunday between 9 am to 4 pm. The entry fee is Rs 50 per person.
