Consumer - Secondary Distribution

At Mahindra Logistics, we simplify the complexity of delivering excellence and promise nothing but utmost efficiency. A FMCG client wanted us to manage their Mega Distribution Centre (DC) in Vapi, Gujarat. The DC had a large area and high throughput. They served a vast network of distributors and modern trade players across West India. However, the process of extensive distribution faced several challenges.

Managing the extensive distribution network across three regions

Ensuring smooth surface line haul transportation to other DCs, distributors, and modern trade customers

Minimising the time taken for picking and travelling, through tech initiatives

Processing a high volume of orders and consolidating them efficiently

Tracking the movement of consignments through the control tower

Solution provided by us:

Overall management of the distribution centre

Efficient operations and inventory management of the DC

Order processing and consolidation for streamline dispatch

Surface line haul transportation to distributors and modern trade players

Movement tracking through the control tower for real-time updates

Reverse logistics to handle returns and damages

Implementation of tech initiatives such as voice-directed picking to reduce time taken for picking and travel time

As a result, we achieved:

Improved efficiency in order processing and dispatch, resulting in higher throughput.

Increased accuracy in inventory management leading to better stock availability

Faster and smoother surface line haul transportation to distributors and modern trade customers

Enhanced tracking visibility and real-time updates for improved control over the movement of consignments

Reduction in time taken for picking and travelling, leading to faster turnaround time

By igniting success through our solutions, we enabled effective DC management, optimised order processing and dispatch, enabled real-time movement tracking, and implemented technological advancements to reduce picking and travel time. As a result, our solution drove higher throughput, improved stock availability, facilitated smoother transportation, and accelerated turnaround time, delivering significant business benefits.
