Supported Government of India in Providing Emergency Vaccine Aid
Published on: May 2021
As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic had affected individuals and organisations on a global scale, causing significant disruptions to daily life and the economy. In response to this crisis, medical professionals and scientists worked tirelessly to develop vaccines to combat the spread of the virus. At the peak of the pandemic, vaccines were seen as the only solution to control the spread of COVID-19. They offered a glimmer of hope for people to resume their daily lives as well as providing businesses with a way to reopen safely and sustainably.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of India took the initiative to provide emergency aid to select friendly countries in the form of large quantities of vaccines. This decision was made by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in an effort to support these countries in their fight against the disease. The enquiry was floated to over 10 forwarders, including us. Owing to restricted flight alternatives and the requirement of cold chain with a lead time of 120 hours, several of them dropped out. We were amongst the few who offered to take up the challenge.
Overcoming Logistical Challenges with Our Global Air Charter Solutions
With our extensive global network and expertise in air charter solutions, we were able to successfully deliver 16,50,000 doses of vaccines to various countries within a remarkably short span of just 10 days. The countries we delivered vaccines to include Afghanistan, Botswana, Cambodia, Myanmar and Zimbabwe.
Myanmar – We facilitated the movement of 5 lakh vaccine doses from Hyderabad to Delhi using Air India. From Delhi, we arranged a full flight charter solution to transport the vaccines to Myanmar, ensuring their timely delivery and proper handling.
Botswana – There were no direct flights available to Botswana. In response, we proposed a solution that involved transporting the vaccines to Johannesburg. From there, we coordinated a domestic flight to transport the 5 lakh doses to Botswana, ensuring a seamless delivery process.
Afghanistan – We utilised the domestic services of Air India to move the vaccines from Hyderabad to Delhi. Once in Delhi, we worked in collaboration with Mahan Air to arrange a flight from Delhi to Kabul, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of the vaccines to their destination.
These examples highlight our ability to overcome logistical challenges and provide tailored solutions to ensure the efficient and secure delivery of vaccines. Our expertise in air charter solutions and our global network enabled us to support these countries in their vaccination efforts, contributing to the global fight against COVID-19.
